What you will do Service Operations North America (SONA) is a part of SO&T and has about 1,000 employees across the United States and Canada. We operate the Central Distribution Center in Byhalia, MS as well as Regional Distribution Centers across the NA region. The Byhalia CDC is a 1 million square foot facility located approximately 25 miles southeast of Memphis, TN and employs 500+ employees. Mission/Purpose of the Position The Senior People & Culture Partner is part of the Byhalia People & Culture function. This is an individual contributor position which serves as the senior People & Culture (P&C) Partner within the Byhalia operation, providing human resources guidance and expertise to the rest of the P&C team, while also working closely with the operational leadership to support the overall business objectives by providing expert human resources insight and strategy. This position reports to the People & Culture Manager of the Byhalia CDC and is based full-time on-site in Byhalia, MS. Essential Functions Oversee and implement human resources initiatives and practices that foster growth, innovation, organizational effectiveness and employee relations that align with business strategies in areas including: talent acquisition, employee development, and performance management. Actively partner with business and operational leaders in order to fully understand their challenges and to develop an effective strategy to support their objectives. Act as a change agent to drive a continuous improvement mindset in a culture of high performance and accountability. Advise and coach people leaders and other P&C partners on workforce-related issues. Coach managers on how to deliver effective performance management, compensation, and career development dialogue and provide training as necessary. Partner with teams to develop cross-functional and operation -wide initiatives to bolster retention and increase employee engagement. Lead the Compensation Review process and be an expert on Volvo compensation philosophy and practices. Lead the People Growth and Succession Planning processes, and be an expert in relation to the potential and performance assessment of employees and the subsequent development plans created to close identified competency gaps. Champion the Volvo culture as well as assure alignment of management actions with Volvo Group values and principles. Partner with central P&C functions per the service delivery model. Special initiatives, projects and other assignments as directed by the P&C Manager. Lead and act according to Volvo values. Who are you? Minimum Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field required. Advanced/graduate degree preferred. Minimum 5 years of Human Resources experience required, preferably working in a distribution/manufacturing environment. Human Resources professional certification highly preferred. People leadership experience a positive. Demonstrated ability to drive change, set demanding targets and motivate teams and individuals to deliver outside of their comfort zones. Necessary Competences, Skills and Abilities As all documentation is in English, proficiency in the English language is required. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to network effectively across a diverse organization and build enduring relationships across functional and geographical areas. Thorough knowledge of US employment and labor law, as well as HR professional practices. Strong Generalist/Functional HR knowledge with experience collaborating across HR disciplines including compensation, recruiting, employee relations, immigration/mobility and talent management. Solid business acumen (financial/operational business drivers). Strong problem-solving, negotiating and conflict resolution skills, and the ability to be flexible and change directions when needed. Ability to facilitate meetings with diverse groups, resolve conflicts and support resolution to a positive outcome. Ability to coach managers and employees in handling various employment and management-related issues. Ability to work independently and make independent decisions, ensuring high levels of collaboration with stakeholders and subject matter experts. Ability to work collaboratively with operational leadership at all levels within the organization. Ability to lead continuous improvement efforts to support business/operational strategies. Analytical and interested in using data for insights. HRIS knowledge, preferably SAP and a cloud-based solution. Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office 365). Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment striving towards operational excellence guided by Volvo’s Values and the Code of Conduct. Ability to travel occasionally to support business needs. For this position, the base pay is set at $111,000 - $137,000 annually, and where applicable, bonus eligible.  The range for this role, as well as final salary offered, is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, work-related knowledge, certifications, skills, education, and experience.
