Senior Databricks BAU & Risk Application Support Lead Gurgaon, Haryana, India The role exists to ensure stable, secure, cost-efficient, and predictable operations (BAU) of the GRM application ecosystem connected to GDP (Global Data Platform), with a good focus on Databricks as the execution and industrialization engine. The role holder will act as production support lead (and operational engineering owner) across Databricks workloads, data pipelines, and app components, while contributing occasionally to strategic projects. What you’ll be DOING What will your essential responsibilities include? End-to-end BAU (Run) responsibility for the GRM risk tooling ecosystem leveraging Microsoft Azure / Databricks, including: Natural Event Platform application landscape (run + operational support) STEC application landscape (run + operational support) This role includes involvement in some punctual projects needing good Databricks skills. You will report to be defined – GRM Tech Owner / Run Manager). What you will BRING We’re looking for someone who has these abilities and skills: Required Skills and Abilities: 1) BAU / Run operations ownership (core mission) Own the day-to-day operational support for GRM GDP-connected applications (Natural Event Platform apps, STEC apps). Run incident management (triage, root cause analysis, resolution, post-mortems), including coordination with platform/provider teams where needed. Manage problem management: recurring issues elimination, reliability improvements, backlog prioritization for operational fixes. Ensure operational readiness for releases: runbooks, monitoring, alerting, rollback procedures, support model/TOM alignment. Provide service reporting (availability, performance, incidents, SLAs/OLAs, trends) to GRM stakeholders. 2) Databricks engineering for production stability Operate and optimize Databricks Jobs / Workflows, notebooks, clusters, libraries, and scheduling patterns for production-grade reliability. Implement and maintain monitoring & observability (job health, pipeline success rates, latency, data quality checks, logs). Drive performance and cost optimization, especially for compute-intensive workloads 3) Data flow operations & integration support (GDP ecosystem) Support and troubleshoot data ingestion/exchange flows connected to GDP and downstream applications, including interactions with integration mechanisms mentioned in the governance materials (e.g., interfaces such as UDM / API/APIM patterns used for exchanges in the ecosystem). Maintain/operate data quality controls relevant to the application ecosystem 4) Project support (punctual contribution) Provide hands-on engineering support to project initiatives when needed (capacity-based), including: Notus modernization / recoding / migration activities (e.g., the confirmed move from Azure Batch to Databricks in GDP; PoC/benchmark contributions; industrialization work). Contributions to GDP-connected initiatives under the GRM governance streams (Natural Event Platform, Solvency 2 Internal Model and related technical excellence tracks). Participate in design reviews to ensure “build-to-run” quality: operability, monitoring, cost guardrails, and documentation before production release. 5) Stakeholder management & governance rhythm Act as the operational focal point for GRM and platform stakeholders, participating in governance/rituals (initiative reviews, risk follow-ups) as required. Provide clear communication on incidents, risks, dependencies, and operational improvements. Specialist skills & experience (must-have) Databricks & Data Engineering good hands-on expertise with Databricks in production contexts (workflows/jobs scheduling, cluster policies, libraries, notebooks, troubleshooting). Advanced PySpark and SQL skills for investigation and remediation of data and pipeline issues. Experience with production support for data platforms/app ecosystems (L2/L3). Run/Service Management Proven experience operating services under SLA/OLA constraints: incident/problem/change management, runbooks, operational reporting. Cost / Performance / Reliability Demonstrated ability to manage compute cost, performance tuning, and reliability improvements—particularly relevant for scalable run workloads . Desired Skills and Abilities: Experience in cloud data platforms and enterprise data governance constraints (access management, secure data handling). Familiarity with integration patterns (API management, managed file transfer approaches) in data exchange ecosystems. Exposure to risk modeling / catastrophe modeling application contexts (helpful but not required). Key interfaces (who the role works with) GRM Tech & Product stakeholders (application owners, BAU owners, governance leads) across Natural Event Platform, STEC apps AXA GO, mainly GDP & CFGP teams (engineering) but as well transversal GO families such as security, access management, architecture supporting the platform releases and readiness. Project teams during transformations Success measures (KPIs / outcomes) High service stability: reduced incident volume, improved MTTR, fewer recurring problems. Operational readiness: complete runbooks, monitoring coverage, predictable release transitions. Cost and performance control: measurable improvements in compute cost monitoring and optimization (especially on Notus run consumption). Stakeholder satisfaction (derived from the three criteria above): clear communication, reliable support, proactive risk management. Working model (ESS – India) Coverage aligned to GRM needs. On call / extended support windows if required during major releases or critical incidents. Who WE are AXA XL, the P&C and specialty risk division of AXA, is known for solving complex risks.
