About the Unit Within Yara, Crop Nutrition and Biologicals Products R&D leads the development and innovation of our crop nutrition solutions. We generate scientific and agronomic insights through laboratory, greenhouse, and field trials; translate these into product concepts and development projects, and support the wider organization with robust, evidence‑based knowledge. We are seeking a curious, proactive, and impact‑driven scientist to advance our product development and innovation pipeline for new fertilizers and sustainable technologies that complement and strengthen Yara’s premium crop nutrition portfolio. This role is an integral member of the Crop Nutrition and Biologicals Products R&D team and reports to the R&D Lead – Premium Products and Organics. Responsibilities Design and coordinate R&D projects focused on developing high-efficiency phosphorous (P) and Nitrogen (N) fertilizer product candidates. Plan, coordinate and execute internal and external research on agronomic efficiency, nutrient release, soil quality and the environmental impact of fertilizer product candidates. Develop and implement methods to evaluate the mode of action and performance of new crop nutrition products. Perform screening and proof-of-concept testing for products and technologies originating from scouting activities and third-party collaborations. Represent Yara at scientific and technical events, industry associations, and forums related to new fertilizer technologies. Collaborate with the Premium Products and Organics R&D Team and the broader Crop Nutrition and Biologicals Products R&D organization by contributing to additional projects as needed. Profile Master’s degree plus relevant applied research or industry experience in crop nutrition, soil science, fertilizers, or related fields. PhD in agronomy, soil science, crop science, plant nutrition, plant physiology or a related discipline is a plus. Deep understanding of N and P chemistry in soils, nutrient dynamics, and mechanisms of nutrient uptake, transport and assimilation in plants. Strong scientific grounding in crop nutrition, soil processes, and agronomy, gained through academic research or professional R&D experience. Knowledge of soil and fertilizer chemistry and plant physiological processes, with the ability to apply these concepts to product development. Fundamental knowledge of fertilizer products (e.g., soil- and foliar-applied fertilizers, liquids, water-soluble fertilizers, fertigation products, coatings, and seed treatments) and application techniques/equipment. Hands-on experience conducting laboratory, greenhouse, and/or field experiments, and proficiency in experimental design, analysis and interpretation of complex datasets. Ability to translate scientific insights into practical recommendations for Yara’s premium crop nutrition products. Collaborative mindset and ability to work in multidisciplinary and international teams. Fluency in English; German is a plus.
