About The Location
Darwin Health Centre is situated at RAAF Base Darwin, approximately 6.5 kilometres north-east of the city, adjacent to Darwin International Airport. The base plays a critical role in major annual Defence exercises involving up to 2,000 Australian and international personnel. The centre provides nursing, mental health, physiotherapy, and pharmaceutical services, operating Monday to Thursday 07:30–16:00 and Friday 07:30–13:30, subject to role requirements.
What you’ll do
As the psychologist , you will be a valued member of a multidisciplinary healthcare team, supporting the diverse and complex mental health needs of active ADF personnel.
Your role will include:
Conducting comprehensive intakes and psychological assessments
Delivering evidence-based psychological interventions tailored to individual needs
Utilising psychometric assessments in line with your scope of practice
Managing your own caseload with a high level of professional autonomy
Coordinating and overseeing externally referred cases
Participating in crisis response, risk assessment, and the development of risk management plans
Working collaboratively within a supportive multidisciplinary environment
This role offers flexibility to practice within your areas of interest and expertise, while contributing to the wellbeing and operational readiness of Defence members.
What you bring
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Unrestricted AHPRA general registration as a Psychologist
Minimum two years’ Post Graduate experience within last five years in mental health within a Primary Healthcare Setting or Specialist Mental Health Setting
Comprehensive assessment skills and experience in ‘Focussed Psychological Strategies’ and ‘Psychological Therapy’ as per Medicare Schedule
Current CPR certification (HLTAID009)
Australian Citizenship required (Baseline Security Clearance)
Commitment to CPD and ethical, patient-centred care
Australian citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Baseline Defence Security Clearance
