Hannah Mallia NL Country Director [email protected] My Profile See my jobs Job Description We are seeking an experienced Plant Controller to join a leading international manufacturing business and take responsibility for the financial performance and control of a major UK manufacturing site. As the key Finance Business Partner to the Plant Manager, you will have a highly visible role focused on profitability, cost competitiveness and operational performance. You will work closely with plant leadership, procurement, engineering and supply chain, combining hands-on financial controlling with commercial business partnering and continuous improvement. The role is based on-site in Worthing, West Sussex . Candidates must be eligible to work in the UK and able to work on-site at the manufacturing facility You will manage a small finance team and report to the Global Manufacturing Controller. Key Responsibilities of the Plant Manager: Act as the primary Finance Business Partner to the Plant Manager, providing financial insight on plant performance, costs, productivity and profitability, and supporting operational decision-making Lead monthly reporting, forecasting and annual budgeting, including manufacturing cost variances, labour and overhead rates, standard costing, accruals, Capex and inventory planning Analyse material, labour and production variances, including purchase price variances, scrap, inventory adjustments and subcontractor costs, identifying root causes and driving corrective actions with plant management Identify and track cost-reduction and productivity opportunities, including make-versus-buy analysis, labour efficiency and working-capital improvements Ensure strong financial controls across the plant, including accurate month-end close, inventory and fixed-asset controls, appropriate capitalisation and compliance with internal approval requirements Partner closely with Procurement, Supply Chain, Engineering and Operations to improve manufacturing efficiency, manage working capital and assess the financial impact of operational and product changes Lead and develop a small finance team, currently consisting of an Assistant Plant Controller and Plant Analyst, while maintaining high standards of financial discipline and accountability What We’re Looking For: Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline, with 8+ years of relevant manufacturing finance experience , ideally in a Plant Controller or equivalent site-level role Strong experience in manufacturing controlling, cost accounting, budgeting, forecasting, standard costing, variance analysis, inventory and Capex Experience with SAP or another manufacturing ERP system and advanced Excel skills Strong analytical, communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to translate financial information into practical business actions A pragmatic, hands-on approach and genuine interest in understanding the manufacturing operation, including regular presence on the plant floor Strong ownership, accountability and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a global Finance organisation EMEA Recruitment is committed to promoting Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion in the workplace.
