The Reconciliation Manager leads the team responsible for the daily and month-end reconciliation of PSP
transactions, balances and settlements. The role ensures that high-volume payment data is complete, accurate and
properly supported, and that discrepancies are investigated to root cause and resolved or appropriately escalated.
The role combines strong accounting and reconciliation knowledge with an investigative mindset and works closely
with Treasury and the Payment Product team to manage settlement issues, transaction discrepancies and
continuous process improvement.
YOUR RO LE WITHIN BETCLIC 🔥
Reconciliation & control: Own the daily and month-end reconciliation process across PSPs, banks and internal systems, with a strong focus on completeness, accuracy, ageing and timely resolution of exceptions.
Investigation & root cause: Lead investigations into missing, duplicate, timing, settlement and transaction differences. Use data and transaction flows to determine what happened, quantify the impact and drive issues to resolution.
Settlements & Treasury: Oversee reconciliation of PSP settlements to bank receipts and underlying transactions. Work closely with Treasury on settlement timing, missing or delayed receipts, balances and other cash-related discrepancies.
Accounting & month-end: Ensure PSP balances, fees, accruals, adjustments and reconciling items are properly understood and supported, and that the accounting impact is reflected appropriately in month-end close.
Payment Product partnership: Partner closely with Payment Product on transaction issues, PSP behaviour, data gaps and process changes. Lead meetings, challenge assumptions where needed and agree clear actions, owners and deadlines.
Process & data improvement: Design and improve reconciliation processes and controls, identify recurring issues and define practical improvements.
Work with Technology on tools and automation, with scripting/SQL as supporting skills rather than the core of the role.
Team leadership: Lead, coach and develop the reconciliation team, set priorities and ensure high-quality delivery and adequate coverage of critical daily and month-end activities.
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR? 🔍
Education: Degree or equivalent qualification in Accounting, Data Science or part-qualified ACCA / ACA.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in payment provider reconciliations, with managerial experience.
Accounting knowledge: Good understanding of balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, preparation of journals, financial controls and month-end processes, with the ability to understand the accounting impact of operational issues.
Data skills: Comfortable working with large datasets and tracing transactions across multiple systems.
Advanced Excel is expected; SQL, Power Query, Power BI or similar tools are advantageous.
Investigative mindset: Highly analytical, curious and persistent, with a strong focus on completeness, accuracy, evidence and understanding why a difference exists rather than simply clearing an exception.
Process mindset: Comfortable designing, documenting and improving processes and controls, challenging existing ways of working and balancing efficiency with strong financial control.
Communication: Confident leading meetings and explaining complex reconciliation or settlement issues clearly to Treasury and Payment Product stakeholders.
Team management & mentoring: Manage, coach and mentor the reconciliation team, set priorities, review the quality of work and investigations, support the development of team members and ensure appropriate coverage of critical daily and month-end activities.
Leadership: Able to prioritise material issues, make sound judgements, challenge constructively and develop others.
