As an Assistant Maritime Warfare Instructor, you’ll support the delivery of high-quality maritime warfare training within the Bridge Training Faculty. You’ll work closely with a collaborative team to create realistic simulation environments and help build capability across naval personnel. Your role blends technical expertise with hands-on training delivery, ensuring learning is safe, engaging and aligned with Defence requirements. You’ll play a meaningful part in shaping future maritime operations.
As an Assistant Maritime Warfare Instructor in the Navigation and Synthetic Warfare Training team, you’ll make a positive impact by:
Supporting delivery of bridge warfare training using simulation systems
Operating and preparing bridge simulators for realistic training scenarios
Providing tactical communications and whole-of-ship emulation during exercises
Contributing to development of training materials and course improvements
Maintaining compliance with Defence and Serco training standards
Participating in debriefs and continuous improvement of training outcomes

Experience as an RAN sailor in a bridge or operations room environment
Strong communication skills with confidence engaging diverse stakeholders
Ability to stay organised and deliver quality work under pressure
Experience or interest in training delivery or instructional roles
Confidence using Microsoft Office and working in structured environments
Simulation systems experience or willingness to learn
A commitment to upholding the highest standards of trust and responsibility
Be able to achieve and maintain a defence security clearance of NV1 or higher
