We are currently searching for a Senior Software Developer to join our international team in Rome and work on a full time, permanent position with hybrid working style and excellent opportunities for career progress.
The Senior Software Developer is a key member of the ECLIPSE Product Development team, responsible not only for delivering high-quality software but also for providing technical leadership across the development lifecycle. The role combines hands-on software engineering with solution design, mentoring, technical decision-making, and continuous improvement of engineering practices. The Senior Software Developer works closely with Tech Leads, Product Owners, and stakeholders to shape the technical direction of the ECLIPSE suite of products.
Responsibilities
Lead the design, development, deployment, and maintenance of complex software features and components.
Design scalable, maintainable, and secure technical solutions aligned with product and architectural goals.
Take ownership of significant functional areas, ensuring long-term quality and maintainability.
Review code, establish coding standards, and promote engineering best practices.
Mentor and support other developers through coaching, pair programming, and technical guidance.
Collaborate with Product Owners, Tech Leads, QA, and stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
Lead technical investigations, proof-of-concepts, and evaluation of new technologies and tools.
Identify and drive improvements to software architecture, development processes, CI/CD pipelines, testing, and automation.
Support troubleshooting of complex production issues and perform root cause analysis.
Contribute to technical roadmap planning and architectural discussions.
Participate in Agile ceremonies while helping improve estimation accuracy and delivery practices.
Continuously expand technical expertise and share knowledge across the team.
Profile
Degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
Strong Experience with:
Java/J2EE
Spring Boot, Spring, Hibernate
HTML, CSS, JavaScript
Front-end frameworks (Angular, jQuery or similar)
Oracle and/or PostgreSQL
Git, SVN, or other version control systems
Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and enterprise application design
Experience mentoring developers and performing constructive code reviews
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Ability to influence technical decisions and collaborate across teams
Excellent written and spoken English.
