Position Summary The Sales Manager, Group & Leisure is responsible for driving group, leisure, wedding, and social event revenue for Thompson Zihuatanejo. Based in Mexico City, this position serves as a key representative for one of the resort's most important feeder markets and is responsible for developing new business, strengthening existing partnerships, and increasing market share. Reporting directly to the Director of Sales & Marketing, the Sales Manager will proactively identify new opportunities while positioning Thompson Zihuatanejo as one of Mexico's premier luxury beach destinations. Key Responsibilities Group Sales • Proactively identify, qualify, and secure group business across corporate, incentive, association, social, and creative market segments. • Develop wedding and social group business by cultivating relationships with wedding planners, event professionals, and luxury agencies. • Manage the complete sales cycle from prospecting and site inspections through contract negotiations and turnover to operations. • Respond to RFPs (Cvent, Hyatt channels, direct inquiries, and third-party platforms) with timely and strategic proposals. • Conduct property presentations, virtual meetings, and site inspections showcasing the unique experience of Thompson Zihuatanejo. • Collaborate closely with Revenue Management, Events, and Operations to ensure exceptional guest experiences and successful program execution. Leisure Sales • Develop and maintain strong relationships with luxury travel advisors, consortia partners (Virtuoso, American Express Fine Hotels + Resorts, Chase Travel, Signature Travel Network, etc.), wholesalers, and tour operators in Mexico defined geographical areas. • Identify opportunities to drive leisure demand during low and shoulder seasons through targeted promotions and strategic partnerships. • Collaborate with the Marketing team to develop and promote seasonal packages and special offers. • Represent Thompson Zihuatanejo at trade shows, luxury travel events, sales missions, and client networking functions. Account Management & Business Development • Manage and grow a portfolio of key accounts throughout Mexico (defined geographical areas and other strategic domestic markets. • Prospect and develop new business through outside sales calls, networking events, industry organizations, and strategic partnerships. • Build long-term relationships that generate repeat business and strengthen brand loyalty. • Maintain regular communication with key clients through sales calls, entertainment, educational events, and familiarization (FAM) trips. Revenue & Market Strategy • Work closely with the Director of Sales & Marketing and Revenue Management team to identify need periods and implement targeted sales strategies. • Monitor group pace, booking trends, and leisure production to maximize revenue opportunities. • Provide competitive market intelligence and recommend strategies to increase market share. • Support the achievement of annual budget goals and revenue targets. Reporting & Performance • Maintain accurate account activity and pipeline management within Hyatt sales systems. • Prepare weekly and monthly production reports, sales forecasts, and market updates. • Track account production and identify opportunities for continued growth. Qualifications • Minimum 3–5 years of hotel sales experience, preferably within luxury or lifestyle hospitality. • Proven success in group, leisure, wedding, and social event sales. • Experience working with luxury travel advisor networks and consortia. • Strong knowledge of the Mexico market and established industry relationships preferred. • Experience with Hyatt sales systems, including Envision, is preferred.
