This involves investigating and developing disruptive technologies, reducing the carbon footprint of steel, and optimizing costs while maintaining uncompromising quality. You will be working in the Quality & Product Department, part of the Process Research Lab in the Maizières Campus, the largest research center of ArcelorMittal Global R&D. Quality & Product's main mission is to develop and deploy innovative digital solutions for product quality management, offering a large panel of functionalities (conformity check, root cause analysis, predictive quality), on the full production streamline from Continuous Caster to Finishing lines. These solutions are deployed in ArcelorMittal plants all over the world (currently 48 production lines in 23 plants are equipped with our solutions) to contribute to quality improvement and mastering leading to multi-million dollars value creation. 

Your role

As Research Engineer in Quality & Product Department, you will lead exciting projects that make a real impact on product quality and that contribute to the digital transformation of ArcelorMittal. 

In this pivotal role, you will collaborate with a diverse array of stakeholders, including R&D teams, dedicated Quality Expert, and IT specialists from ArcelorMittal plants, in order to:

  • Lead global deployments: you will gradually manage the implementation of our digital solutions for product quality management in various ArcelorMittal plants worldwide. You will have to ensure that the deployed solutions meet the highest standards of quality and performance.
  • Support ArcelorMittal plants in the use of our solutions : as the entry point of some specific plants, you will support and advise quality managers to use the solutions optimally and to finely tune the applications with the ultimate goal to take the best quality decision, as fast as possible, as automatic as possible. 
  • Develop models to predict product properties : thanks to the widely deployed quality solutions, you will have access to a huge amount data to develop advanced quality models and make correlation between process and defect or product properties. These models will contribute to speed-up the resolution of quality crisis and improve product quality management. 
  • Develop new digital services in relation with product quality : you will play a key role in elevating our product quality by actively gathering customer insights and needs. Your contributions will directly influence the development of new digital services that answer to our clients' requirements, driving innovation and excellence in R&D solutions.
  • Steer development initiatives: you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and steer the evolution of existing solutions to meet new customer expectations or to support new product developments. Your ability to synthesize feedback and translate it into actionable strategies will be key to our success.

Your profile

Master degree in Industrial Engineering , completed with Data Science certification or competencies

Experience in quality management in Industry

Knowledge of instrumentation, information systems and data science.

  • You have analytical skills and critical thinking, rigor and logic.
  • You are eager to develop competencies in steel making process, product quality, quality modelling. A first experience in product quality management in a production plant would be a plus.
  • You have strong ability to work in a multi-cultural team, to communicate and to share knowledge among stakeholders.
  • You have the willingness to learn constantly, you are curious and innovative.
  • You have good skills in project management.
  • You are fluent in French and English.

Within this context, you will be working for Maizières Process research centre located in Maizières-lès-Metz (France) which main mission is to contribute to ArcelorMittal’s production lines competitiveness and sustainability by the development or improvement of innovative processes or processing routes (from Ironmaking to metallic coating). The objectives of the laboratory are answering the needs of our operations (mineral processing, steel upstream operations, steel downstream operations, product quality, transversal issues). We are able to offer new technologies, standard solutions, technical assistances and knowledge building.
