Your role

As part of this dynamic team, you'll have the opportunity to pilot projects and application developments, explore new ideas and opportunities, understand market needs, and turn advanced research into real, high-performing solutions matching customers’ needs.

As Product Development manager - Packaging Steel Applications, you will:

  • Lead application development projects for the Packaging market, working in close collaboration with R&D laboratories, customers, production sites, commercial teams, and external partners.
  • Drive and coordinate strategic partnerships and joint developments with external stakeholders to strengthen the market position and competitiveness of steel packaging solutions.
  • Ensure the timely and cost-effective delivery of projects, including the development of promotional tools supporting market implementation.
  • Contribute to the technical and economic evaluation of projects, including business case preparation.
  • Support the deployment, commercialization, and promotion of products and solutions in close coordination with commercial teams.
  • Monitor market, technology, and competitive trends to identify emerging opportunities and risks for the steel packaging business.
  • Define, together with R&D laboratories, steel specifications for packaging applications and anticipate future technical and market requirements.
  • Develop a deep understanding of customer and market needs, identifying new application opportunities for steel packaging in collaboration with marketing teams.
  • Translate business and market insights into innovation and development strategies, proposing and leading R&D projects aligned with stakeholder expectations and business objectives.
  • Act as a key interface between technical, commercial, and industrial stakeholders to ensure successful project execution and value realization.

Your profile

  • You hold a Master’s degree or PhD in Materials Science, or in a related field, with a minimum of five years’ experience as a Materials Engineer or in a comparable role within an industrial or R&D environment.
  • You possess strong expertise in steel properties, processing technologies, and forming applications.
  • Experience in the metal packaging or can-making industry is considered a strong asset.
  • You are capable of managing a diverse portfolio of projects effectively, balancing priorities while maintaining a strong focus on results.
  • You are fluent in both English and French, with excellent written and verbal communication skills; proficiency in additional European languages, particularly Spanish, would be an advantage.
  • You demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills, enabling close collaboration with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • You have the ability to influence and engage customers, partners, and key decision-makers, driving the adoption of innovative steel packaging solutions.
  • You are open to regular travel within Europe.
