Job Description
A leading international industrial organization is looking to appoint a Principal Business Analyst to support its European Finance function.
This is a high-impact position with significant exposure to senior leadership, combining strategic financial analysis, commercial evaluation and operational performance improvement.
The role will suit someone who enjoys working with complex data and business challenges and can turn analysis into practical recommendations for senior decision-makers.
Key responsibilities of the Principal Business Analyst:
Lead financial analysis supporting strategic planning and business objectives
Build financial models for investments, projects and operational initiatives
Evaluate business cases, returns, risks and funding requirements
Conduct scenario and sensitivity analysis to support decision-making
Assess capital requirements, leverage and financing options
Identify opportunities to improve profitability and operational efficiency
Partner with operational teams on cost-saving and productivity initiatives
Analyze European energy markets, pricing, contracts and hedging strategies
Support acquisitions, partnerships and other strategic initiatives
Prepare analysis and presentations for senior management and Board stakeholders
Translate complex financial and operational data into clear recommendations
Partner with senior stakeholders across functions and European locations
Lead ad hoc strategic analysis and projects as required
Candidate Profile:
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business or a related discipline
7+ years of experience in financial analysis, corporate finance, strategy, business analysis or a similar role
Strong financial modelling and business case experience
Background in an asset-intensive or industrial environment, such as process manufacturing, energy or commodity trading
Big Four, transaction services or corporate finance experience would be beneficial
Strong knowledge of investment appraisal, valuation and forecasting
Experience with capital structure, debt sizing and credit metrics is desirable
Advanced Excel skills; experience with analytical tools is advantageous
Strong commercial judgement and ability to identify value-creation opportunities
Excellent communication skills and confidence working with senior stakeholders
Analytical, structured and proactive, with the ability to manage multiple priorities
Fluent in English
