Job Summary (Purpose of Job):
Manufacturing Process Planning, Layout designing, Line Balancing & Activity sequencing, Process documentation (Process Sheets, Work Instructions, OPLs, SOPs etc.)
Tool Planning & Procurement (Assembly Tools, Fixtures, Lifting Slings etc.)
Storage system, Storage Racks, Pallets and material handling planning
Continuous Improvements and automation in manufacturing processes to reduce efforts and improve productivity
Main Tasks/ Responsibilities / Authorities
He/ she will have Manufacturing engineering related responsibility in the areas of assembly, fabrication (welding), Paint Shop and Warehouse etc.
New Product Development – Inputs to Technology regarding manufacturability, accessibility for Assembly, Participation in design review meetings, CAST approach for manufacturing processes
New Product Industrialization – Layout, Tool and Process Planning, Activity sequencing and Line Balancing, Tool Procurement, MBOM Creation, Routing Creation, Standard Time calculations, Takt Time calculations, Facilities planning, Process documentation (Process Sheets, Work Instructions, SOPs, PFMEA etc.)
Engineering Change Management – Study on impact of Manufacturing Process, Updation of MBOM, Routing, Standard time, replacement Tools, Process Documents, Cut in serial numbers; explaining to Technicians about the ECNs
Continuous Improvements – Innovative ideas, Process simplification, Automation, Productivity Improvement, Human effort reduction; Change Management, Documentation Updation, Project Management
Small Tools, Pallets, Material handling devices, Fixture designing for Quality & Productivity Improvement, and Effort reduction
Initiate F4T projects by working cross functionally with VIT, VCE P&IT and Global ME Team
CAPEX Planning for shops
Initiation and formulation of all the PPAP documentation for internal manufacturing processes (Fabrication, assembly etc.)
Programming the Smart systems wherever necessary (e.g. Robot/ PLC/ Microprocessor system Programming etc.)
Contribute cross-functionally with knowledge and expertise to resolve product and process issues arising at Internal and external customers location
Represent VCE-BNG and contribute to Global Project Teams within Volvo Group
Time and Methods study of assembly and fabrication activities
Responsibilities
Complete Project Management from Concept to Implementation with focus on Project deliverables
Planning, Procuring and implementing peripherals for manufacturing Projects
Monitoring and troubleshooting the implemented projects in case of issues
Training of employees, documentation and handing over of Projects
Coordinate and network with various internal stakeholders for continuous improvement in manufacturing processes and systems through various enablers
Co-ordination and networking with CFT members to continuously improve Production systems and processes
Authorities: (flexible basis the demonstrated ability)
Approval of specific Tools/ Tool designs, Layout designs, IT enablers, work orders
Raising Purchase requisitions for Project requirements
Make necessary changes in Designs, Process related documents, Manufacturing systems & Processes
Formulate KPI Targets, Project Targets, Yearly objectives and Goals
Raise requisitions for travel for business purpose to visit suppliers, Volvo facilities
Prepare / submit objectives of his/ her team and conduct reviews during the year
Key Skills
Competence :
Experience in Manufacturing Engineering
Understanding and Implementation of Lean concepts
Basic understanding of manufacturing processes e.g. fabrication, machining, assembly, painting
Process documentation, SOPs, WIs
Layout Designing, Process Designing
Skills
Proficient in reading, understanding and interpreting Engineering Drawings
Hands on using AutoCAD, ProE and Catia
Abreast with Automation and Robotics, Digital Operations, Smart Industrial systems, Industry 4.0 requirements
Skilled in using MS offices 365, SAP PP, MM, FM Modules
Good at Written and verbal communication; especially English
Skilled at using VPM, Chinook and Windchill
Good interpersonal and influencing skills (A team player)

Education/Professional Qualifications required for the position
Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics Engineering (Preferred) OR Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical/ Production/ Industrial Engineering with additional Qualification such as Post Graduation (or PG Diploma) in Automation & Robotics, Digital Operations, Smart Industrial Systems, IoT, I 4.0 etc. would be an added advantage
2 - 6 years of experience in Automation Projects/ Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent
Experienced Candidates in Earthmoving and Construction Equipment Industry/ Industrial Equipment Industry/ Automobile/ Auto component Industry would be preferred
Hands on Knowledge & experience of IT Enablers in manufacturing Industry, Automation & Robotics, Digital Operations, and Smart Industrial systems etc. is a must.
Experience in defining process sequences, Tool designing, tool requirements, preparing layouts / redefining layout considering productivity, working on capital expenditure projects using project management technique, would be preferred
Should be Tech savvy, with excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
