As the Lead Senior Instructor at the Navy Synthetic Warfighting Centre, you’ll lead a team in coordinating and delivering advanced synthetic warfare training for the Royal Australian Navy. Working closely with the OIC NSWC and Warfare Training Manager, you’ll lead the planning, preparation and execution of complex training activities that strengthen operational readiness. You’ll collaborate with Defence stakeholders and instructor teams to ensure high-quality, mission-ready outcomes while driving continuous improvement in training effectiveness.
As the Lead Senior Instructor in the Navigation and Synthetic Warfare Training team, you’ll make a positive impact by:
Lead and develop specialist teams in the design and delivery of complex synthetic warfare exercises
Provide subject matter expertise in warfare tactics and fulfil roles as exercise director or exercise controller to support complex synthetic warfare training
Managing simulator databases, scenario development and threat modelling
Coordinating planning activities with ADF and coalition stakeholders
Mentoring and assessing instructors and warfare practitioners
Facilitating execution, debrief and continuous improvement processes
Supporting Task Group Headquarters functions including N3 activities

You could be a great fit if you have:
Minimum 10 years’ experience with Naval Combat Management Systems
Proven experience leading large-force or complex Defence exercises
Deep understanding of ADF operations and RAN doctrine
Experience operating across multiple warfare domains
Strong leadership capability with experience managing teams
Be able to achieve and maintain a defence security clearance of NV2 or higher
Willingness to obtain Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
You’ll bring practical experience in senior warfare roles such as Principal Warfare Officer, Air Battlespace Manager, ASW Warfare Officer, Task Force staff roles or similar operational appointments.
