What you will do
At Maintainability Engineering team, we are looking for an intern to assess the effectiveness of aftermarket deliverables and identify improvement opportunities in data, processes, and tools. Join us in evaluating aftermarket solutions and contributing to improved vehicle operational availability through data analysis, field feedback, and business process assessment.
Your future team
The Maintainability Engineering team in Lyon consists of around ten people with complementary expertise and backgrounds. Energetic, and supportive the team places great importance on welcoming newcomers, sharing knowledge, and taking the time to explain its activities and challenges. As a local team within a global organization, we work with passion and commitment while collaborating closely with a broad network of experts across the Volvo Group. Your mission
The internship will begin with an onboarding phase designed to help you understand customer needs, the aftermarket ecosystem, and Volvo Group tools. You will build a network across various functions, including Engineering, Quality, and Aftermarket, to understand aftermarket deliverables and their impact on vehicle uptime.
The assignment will then continue with a pilot phase to test and validate the assessment methodology before extending it to a broader scope:
Learn and combine several Volvo Group tools (fault diagnostics tools, ECU calibration tools, repair methods, documentation databases, and other business applications) to evaluate diagnostic effectiveness on vehicles.
Understand vehicle communication networks and the associated diagnostic tools.
Analyze gaps between initial estimates and actual results (test feedback, field data, operational feedback) to identify key influencing factors and improve the reliability of future estimations.
Define an assessment framework, including KPIs, methodology, consolidation rules, assumptions, and limitations.
Synthesize findings and provide recommendations, including analysis deliverables, indicators, improvement opportunities, and proposed action plans.
Who are you?
Currently pursuing a Master's degree (BSc+4/5 equivalent) in Engineering, University, or a related field, with a specialization in General Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or similar.
Product-oriented , with strong synthesis, pragmatism, and organizational skills
Ability to understand and analyze complex systems involving both hardware and software, ask the right questions, and clearly articulate findings
Strong interpersonal and communication skills , with the ability to gather information from a wide range of stakeholders and effectively navigate a multicultural environment
Comfortable working in English (spoken, written, and read)
Knowledge of vehicle electrical systems and electrical engineering fundamentals applied to automotive applications.
