Essential Job Functions The Interim Financial Controller is responsible for overseeing the hotel’s overall financial management and accounting operations throughout the interim assignment. Reporting to the General Manager, this role oversees day-to-day accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, cash management, and internal controls, while serving as a key business partner to the leadership team and supporting sound operational and financial decision-making. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented finance leader who values ownership, structure, and operational excellence, with the ability to quickly integrate into a select-service hotel environment and ensure continuity of financial operations. Reporting to the General Manager, this role oversees day-to-day accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, cash management, and internal controls, while serving as a key business partner to the leadership team and supporting sound operational and financial decision-making. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented finance leader who values ownership, structure, and operational excellence, with the ability to quickly integrate into a select-service hotel environment and ensure continuity of financial operations. What You’ll Do Oversee the hotel’s accounting and financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll coordination, general ledger, and financial reporting. Prepare monthly financial statements, forecasts, and annual budgets, ensuring accurate and transparent P&L reporting. Lead the budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring alignment with hotel operations and ownership expectations. Partner with the General Manager and department leaders, providing financial insights to support operational decision-making and hotel performance. Establish and maintain effective internal controls, policies, and procedures to safeguard assets and ensure compliance. Manage cash flow, banking relationships, and daily cash positioning for the property. Oversee billing, collections, credit processes, revenue reporting, night audit oversight, and balance sheet reconciliations. Ensure compliance with brand-related financial obligations, reporting requirements, fees, and standards. Support financial systems, chart of accounts, banking structure, and financial workflows as needed to ensure efficient and accurate operations. What You’ll Bring 3+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience within a hotel or hospitality environment. Strong understanding of hotel financial operations, including revenue flows, departmental expenses, and financial reporting structures. Experience with hotel systems such as Opera, POS systems, and accounting platforms. High level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail, with a strong sense of ownership and accountability for financial results. Strong leadership and communication skills, with a collaborative and solutions-oriented approach. Ability to translate financial data into clear, actionable insights for operational teams. Sound professional judgment, integrity, and discretion when handling financial matters. Hands-on approach with the ability to balance strategic thinking with day-to-day execution. Ability to quickly adapt to a new environment and provide stability and continuity during the interim assignment. Assignment Details Assignment Type: Fixed-Term / Temporary Assignment Location: Cancun / Riviera Maya, Mexico Work Authorization: Candidates must currently reside in the area and have full working rights in Mexico.
