Amazon Leo is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,000+ satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to underserved communities around the world. Amazon Leo will help close the digital divide by delivering fast, affordable broadband to a wide range of customers, including consumers, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity. We are looking for talented technicians to help full-scale production of the Leo satellites. Key job responsibilities Integration and test of the Leo satellite and various complex subassemblies in a cleanroom and ESD controlled environment Rigging and critical lifts of bulky, sensitive hardware Use precision calibrated tools – torque wrenches, multimeters, optical inspection devices, micrometers and calipers Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation Perform work according to procedures, specifications, and test instructions Run functional and environmental testing on units Use computer software programs for conducting tests Collaborate with manufacturing engineers to develop and document activities, including continuous improvement opportunities Perform other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring an efficient, safe and effective work environment Additional Requirements: - Willing to work overtime and weekends as needed. Shift will vary, depending on program needs. Estimated shift for role: 2nd shift: 5:00pm - 3:30am PST (Wed - Sat) - Flexible working/commuting in between site locations Redmond, WA and Kirkland, WA - Standing for long periods of time, climbing up and down ladders, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, and stretching may be required to perform the functions of this position - Able to lift-up to 25lbs. unassisted Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum. Candidates must be 18 years or older with the ability to understand and adhere to all job requirements and safety guidelines. The starting pay for this role in Washington State is up to $38.50 / hour and employees are eligible for incremental raises based on tenure. Basic Qualifications - High school diploma or equivalent - 3+ years experience in mechanical or electrical hardware assembly, test, and/or installation Preferred Qualifications - Experience with environmental testing - vibration, shock, thermal, EMI/EMC, etc. - Experience conducting structural, mechanical or electrical systems integration testing - Demonstrated ability to follow electromechanical test requirements - Experience working with FOD, ESD sensitive hardware and clean room requirements - Experience with forklifts, cranes and heavy equipment (including previous certifications) - A demonstrated ability in reading/understanding technical drawings, work instructions and standard operating procedures - Knowledge of electrical, optical and mechanical systems, antennas, functional testing and/or satellite components - Ability to use multiple types of precision measuring instruments Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status. The starting pay for this position is listed below, including the base pay rate plus the highest available shift differential which applies depending on the shift you select. As a total compensation company, additional earnings may include shift differentials and overtime pay. Final pay will be based on factors including shift selection and location.
