IDEXX is seeking an enthusiastic temporary, hands-on Facilities Team Leader, to be based in Montpellier, France. As part of the Global Facilities Team and reporting to the Facilities Supervisor Southern Europe, the Facilities Team Leader is responsible for overseeing all facility management activities on a veterinary production site. This includes maintenance, infrastructure, utilities, compliance, vendor management, and continuous improvement. The role ensures operational continuity, regulatory compliance (GMP, ISO, USDA), and a safe and efficient working environment.
Main Activities:
Lead daily activities regarding preventative and corrective maintenance to critical assets including those associated with production equipment, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, and building envelope while maintaining associated administration needs aligned with company policy.
Ensure availability, reliability and performance of building systems, technical installations and production equipment
Manages relations with 3rd party suppliers (e.g. maintenance, cleaning, waste handling, grounds & gardens etc.) whilst complying with IDEXX screening standards and purchasing procedures
Responsible for tracking maintenance services and work orders (request, planning, execution and closure), asset renewal and spare parts availability
Responsible for administrative facilities tasks (e.g. invoicing, Purchase Orders) and maintaining documentation required for e.g. validation processes or environmental reporting
Lead equipment validation activities (IQ/OQ/PQ) in collaboration with Quality and Validation Teams
Ensures compliance and enforcement of norms, regulations and internal H&S procedures and participates in various audits (e.g. ISO, insurance, USDA and GMP)
Act as main point of internal customer contact for facilities support and services
Provide daily direction to a small team (equipment maintenance and janitorial services)
Monitor operational FM services, conduct Facility inspections and drive continuous improvement
Provide local support for capital projects (in conjunction with Facilities Project Manager) and manages small projects (such as internal office moves) independently
Being ‘on call’ in rotation (one week a month) to respond to after hours alarms or coordination of some activities when required to minimize disruption to normal operations
Required Skills and Abilities:
Able to work independently and provide clear guidance to a team
Strong prioritization skills
Good knowledge of building systems (HVAC, utilities, electrical etc.)
Vendor and contract management experience
Understanding of compliance and quality systems
Attention to detail
Educational & experience profile:
Bachelors degree in preferably Facilities Management or Engineering
At least 3 – 5 years proven experience in Facilities Coordination or Maintenance in an industrial and regulated environment (e.g. pharmaceutical, biotech or food industry is preferred)
Experience with CMMS (Maximo) or Facilities Maintenance Systems
Experience in equipment qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ)
Knowledge of GMP, ISO and USDA standards
Proficiency in including Microsoft Office and preferably SAP
Languages: Fluent in French a must, professional English is a plus
