About the Cairns Health Centre
Cairns Health Centre is located at HMAS Cairns, on the northern shore of Trinity Inlet and close to the CBD of Cairns. Members mainly conduct border controls and responsibility extending from Rockhampton to Thursday Island, providing maintenance, logistic and administrative support for Cairns fleet-based units. The base is home to approximately 1000 Navy and civilian personnel providing primary medical, underwater medicine, dental, nursing, and mental health services. The standard operating hours of the centre are generally 0730-1600 Monday – Thursday depending on role requirements, and a half day (5.5 hours) Friday.
What you’ll do
Work Monday to Friday
Deliver nursing care to Defence personnel under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse
Provide outpatient care, and where required support inpatient care within a health centre or hospital setting
Administer medications (where endorsed) in line with legislative requirements and clinical protocols
Assist with patient assessments, treatment plans and health promotion activities
Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, efficient and high-quality care
What you bring
Current unconditional and unrestricted AHPRA registration as an Enrolled Nurse (Division 2)
Minimum two years’ post registration nursing experience in acute care, primary healthcare or similar setting within the last five years
Medication endorsement (if applicable to role requirements)
Commitment to clinical governance, infection control and high-quality patient care
Current CPR certification (HLTAID009)
Australian Citizenship required (baseline security clearance)
Commitment to CPD and ongoing professional development
