Auckland South Corrections Facility (ASCF)
Be part of a service that places equity, mana, and whānau-centred care at the heart of healthcare.
We are seeking a passionate and culturally responsive Registered Nurse to join the healthcare team at Auckland South Corrections Facility. This role offers the opportunity to work alongside Māori, Pacific and diverse communities, delivering care that supports oranga (wellbeing), manaakitanga (respectful care) and rehabilitation.
About the Role
You will play a key role in delivering holistic, culturally grounded care by:
Upholding and applying the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi in everyday nursing practice
Providing care that protects and enhances the mana and dignity of people in custody
Supporting Māori models of health, including Te Whare Tapa Whā, to inform care planning
Delivering trauma-informed, culturally safe care that recognises the intergenerational and social impacts on health
Working in partnership with whānau (where appropriate), iwi, and health providers to support continuity of care
Advocating for equitable health outcomes
Key Requirements
We are looking for nurses who demonstrate cultural humility, respect, and commitment to equity:
Current registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand (NCNZ) and a current Annual Practising Certificate (APC)
At least 2 years’ post-registration experience in primary health, acute, or emergency care
A strong understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, kaupapa Māori practice, and cultural safety
Experience working with, or a strong commitment to working alongside, Māori and diverse populations
Ability to build trust through whakawhanaungatanga (relationship-building) and respectful communication
Rosters & Shifts
This is a Casual role operating on a 10-hour rotating roster across 7 days per week:
Shift times:
0700 – 17:30
0730 – 18:00
0830 – 19:00
✅ No night shifts at this facility
✅ One RN rostered on-call overnight (rotated)
