Key Responsibilities

1. Technical Service and Customer Support

·        Handles technical service requests primarily with external customers and collaborates with internal stakeholders (QA, R&D, Production) to provide required technical support and solutions.

·        Conducts mechanical tests on foam core and sandwich specimens, both internally and at customer sites as part of project engagements.

·        Supports the QA team on customer claims and represents the company at trade shows and conferences, including delivering technical presentations.

·        Maintains regular interaction with customers and end users (>15 interactions/month) to clarify project requirements and deliver fit-for-purpose technical recommendations.

2. Prototype Development

·        Supports product development through foam conversion into finished products using shaping, lamination, molding, welding, thermoforming, and other relevant technologies.

·        Executes all types of product assembly and manufacturing using available fabrication equipment, ensuring output meets defined quality and application standards.

3. Process Development

·        Supports the development of new material solutions and manufacturing processes.

·        Evaluates available technologies (internal and external) and supports technology transfer activities.

4. Application and Product Testing

·        Executes product and application tests independently and documents results in structured test reports.

·        Ensures quality assurance and compliance with applicable norms within the scope of test activities.

5. Documentation

·        Produces all relevant technical documents including project reports, product specifications, drawings, technical data sheets, and process specifications.

·        Ensures documentation adheres to quality guidelines and incorporates appropriate statistical evaluation where required.

6. Cross-Functional Collaboration

·        Works closely with QA, Application Testing, and Production teams to solve technical challenges and ensure project continuity.

·        Participates in engineering and production brainstorming and problem-solving sessions to address technical issues efficiently.

·        Engages actively with the global Application Development Team and the R&D network in Thimister and globally.

7. Communication and Coordination

·        Maintains clear and professional communication with external and internal stakeholders across regions, cultures, and time zones - primarily in English.

·        Translates work instructions, quality procedures, and technical drawings in line with project and compliance requirements.

·        Coordinates flexibly across time zones (primarily Americas), adapting working hours as needed to support customer interactions.

Travel Requirements

·        Total travel: >25% of working time across AMERICAS and EMEA.

·        Quarterly travel to the Americas (1-2 weeks per trip).

·        Sporadic customer and plant visits in Europe, including the Thimister facility (Belgium).

Required Qualifications

·        Degree in engineering, materials science, mechanical engineering, or a comparable technical discipline.

·        Minimum 2 years of professional experience in the composite or FRP industry, composites parts manufacturing, or foam converting/kitting.

·        Demonstrated expertise in mechanical testing of foam core materials and sandwich structures - both practical and theoretical.

·        Practical knowledge of standard FRP processes including RTM, infusion, prepreg, lamination, and molding, with proven hands-on experience.

·        Fluent English - written and spoken - mandatory for customer interaction, reporting, and cross-functional collaboration.

·        Willingness and ability to travel internationally (>25% of working time, AMERICAS + EMEA).
